Thermal pad thickness EC-SNVE

  • Hello.

I would like to know what is the thickness of the thermal pad on "EC-SNVE" NVME M.2 external Case 10 gbps. 1.0 mm? And does it really have a protective film to peel off? Saw some confusion about it. The protective film is for protecting it before use or because it has adhesive on it?

    Thanks.

  • @naustodark Sorry for the late supply. We do have one enclosure with pinkish thermal padding where the top layer stays on, but in most cases you will peel off the protective plastic. We now mention this in manuals where applicable. Our pad sizes vary from 1mm to 2mm and we now include multiple thicknesses with products where it might be necessary for single/double sided drives.

  • Thanks for the question — and for the helpful reply from Sabrent staff! It looks like the thermal pad included in the EC‑SNVE isn’t exactly one fixed thickness; they use pads ranging from about 1 mm up to 2 mm depending on the build and whether you’ve got a single‑ or double‑sided SSD. The protective plastic film on top is usually meant to be peeled off before installation so the pad can make good contact with the drive and the enclosure for proper heat transfer. @space waves
