sabrent ec-snve questions

  • hi im interested for this model ec-snve and have some questions.

1- As i havent seen any info in product page is there any limit on ssd capacity? will recognize any ssd from 120gb up to 8tb?

2- as my pc case has usb-a 2.0 and usb-a 3.0 on the front if i use a usb-c to usb-a cable will it have any problem apart from half speed? are there any 2 in 1 cables? anything to know when buying cable?

3- is there any official store in europe?

    regards

  • @khaled22 We generally test our products with our own SSDs which currently go up to 8TB in the consumer line. Power consumption can be in issue but the bridge chip is designed to regulate this within the USB standard. 10Gbps is usually not fast enough to cause issues at 8TB.

For USB cables, some USB-A ports can do 10Gbps but otherwise the enclosure will drop back to 5Gbps which can reduce power consumption. Any cable or adapter used must be made to handle data and power transfer of the port. In some cases you might need to flip USB-C cables to get them to function normally if they are not USB-C to USB-C native. There are dual-purpose cables but usually they just have an adapter attached to one end for USB-A.

We do have a brand affiliate for Amazon, Store4PC and Store4PC-UK with products listed under the Sabrent Store.

  • thank you for your reply along with the explanations. yes the 2in1 i had in mind is those cables with an adapter attach to the cable.

As for amazon supplier yes i found it but shipping is a bit high for my country for such small item and supplier doesnt have sabrent cables to at least add them together. ill keep an eye for it though if cables come back in stock

    regards

    Hi,

    1. There’s no practical SSD capacity limit on the EC-SNVE enclosure itself — it will recognize standard NVMe SSDs from small capacities up to several TB (8TB should be fine), as long as the drive is supported by your OS.

    2. Using a USB-C to USB-A cable with USB 2.0 or 3.0 ports will work without issues. The only downside is reduced speed, limited by the USB port and cable. There’s no need for a special 2-in-1 cable; just make sure the cable supports USB 3.x if you want better performance.

    3. Sabrent products are available in Europe through retailers like Amazon and other local resellers, even if there isn’t a dedicated official Sabrent store.

    Hope that helps.
