With which systems and devices will this drive work?

This drive is a standard NVMe SSD designed for M.2 slots that can receive M Key SSDs. Any slot capable of taking M.2 2242 or longer SSDs will work. Some of these will have an additional offset for 2242 length drives, others may require an extender. This includes enclosures and adapters. It is not recommended to modify M.2 2230 slots to take this drive.
In addition, the Rocket Nano 2242 is single-sided up to 2TB but is double-sided at 4TB. At 4TB it may therefore not fit all systems or enclosures. Verify before beginning the installation procedure.

Will this drive work with earlier/later generation M.2 slots?

Yes. This drive is designed for an x4 PCIe 4.0 M.2 slot but will work with older and newer generation slots, or slots with fewer than four lanes. Speeds will be impacted when the drive is installed in an older slot or a slot with only one or two lanes.

Does this drive have host memory buffer (HMB) technology?

Yes. This will work with all modern operating systems and in certain enclosures that use Thunderbolt or USB4 technology. For older USB enclosures or adapters, performance will already be bottlenecked and HMB is less critical.

What impact will this drive have on battery life?

This drive is designed to be very power efficient with its controller and NAND flash. It is also capable of utilizing many low and idle power states for all modern operating systems. For gaming and general use, the impact on battery life should be minimal.
