I have an EC-SSD2, and I'm trying to make a few copies of a sk Hynix HFS001TEJ9X101N 1TB drives. I was able to make 1 copy of the drive, but the next 2 drives won't start the cloning process. With the source drive in slot A and the target drive in slot B I put the cover on, plug in the dock, and press the power button. I give it a few second, and then press and hold the Clone button. A few seconds later, all 4 lights illuminate, and then go dark.
As I mentioned, it worked to clone one drive yesterday. I have tried it on 2 drives this morning, and neither of them will clone. Any suggestions?
@johnwheeler The drives have to match in capacity or offline sector-by-sector cloning won't work. If that isn't the issue, then you may have to have the unit replaced.
The drives are from identical Dell PCs. The first one cloned successfully, but none of the other have. I've tracked down some older drives, and it's working (256GB to 512GB drive), so I have to wonder what it is about these newer drives. Is there any reason the duplicator wouldn't reliably recognize a 1TB drive or a Gen4 drive?
@johnwheeler If the drives are identical and known to be working, it should work. If the drives are slightly off in capacity, as even a "1TB" drive could be 1000GB or 1024GB, the offline clone won't function. We have tested our own Gen4 drives above 1TB. If the EC-SSD2 is plugged into a PC it should show drive information if everything is working.
