Sabrent NVMe M2 to PCIe problem

  • I bought it from your Amazon store.

But some applications don't seem to like to use it the SSD. Steam says it isn't writeable, and on inspection of the drives properties, it seems to be locked into Read Only mode. I have installed Samsung Magician to see if it fixes it but I can't seem to disable "read only" of the drive.

I have tried to fix it with permissions and given all users "full control".

The Drive is brand new and works fine in my laptop, so it must be the adapter causing this problem?

Any idea what I can do to fix it?

  • @Michael Halsall May I ask what drive you are attempting to use? This adapter is designed for M Key NVMe PCIe SSDs only.

  • @Sabrent Hi thanks for your reply.

It is the Samsung 980 PRO 1TB

    Cheers!

  • @Michael Halsall Just making sure, thank you. Yes, the 980 PRO should work with the adapter. The basic NVMe to PCIe adapter is a simple device. I would need more information if you have it, such as the motherboard model. Drives do have some reasons for going read-only, including if they are overheating, but it is unusual if it's working in your laptop. It may depend on which PCIe slot is used on the motherboard, too.
