@Sabrent, thanks. I am getting 3s(!) with this one though, all else being (almost) equal. Granted, the TESmart does not require UCB-C to DP conversion, which may account for some of the lag.
What is the latest firmware version for the SB-TB4K please? fwupd shows 44.c3 on mine; Average monitor switching time using the SB-TB4K is 22s(!) for two 4K monitors in my experience, which is far...
@Sabrent , any news? Can you give us some hope that we'll see this by (this) year's end?
Wild guess: when (or if) we see a TB5 successor to the SB-TB4K, it'll look suspiciously close to this.
@kvch25 I am guessing they will now scrap all current launching plans in order to accommodate your feedback, so the launch will be postponed for Q2 2027. 😬
@eric: First, I really hate the button-on-a-cord that's used to flip between computers. The whole reason that I bought this thing was to reduce the number of cords around my desk. The KVM...
@Steve, now that you mention it, I'd love to see a beefy GPU included as well. ... and maybe a CPU and not more than 64Gs of RAM. Come to think of it, a 17" OLED display wouldn't hurt either 😁
@jye, fat chance. I don't see this happening before next year (i.e. 2026).
At this rate, you guys might as well release this next year. 😞
The Thunderbolt 5 version of this with EDID and HID emulation would obliterate all TB5 docking stations competitors!
I believe they call these EDID and HID emulation. If you guys come up with a Thunderbolt 5 switch that does both EDID and HID emulation, you'd be selling out in no time!!
@Sabrent, thank you! You may then want to take my 1 and 2 bullets above as suggestions: doing the switch by simply clicking a mouse button is priceless!
Questions about SB-TB4K: Is it EDID compatible? Is it possible to perform the switch using mouse buttons or keyboard shortcuts, as opposed to pressing the dedicated button? Any plans to releas...
