  In the absence of any response, I purchased a QNAP TL-D800C.  It works, shows no duplicate drives and the array hasn't dropped out like the DS-SC5Bs.  I have returned the Sabrent devices....

  Storage Spaces is turned off, so that shouldn't be an issue.  What do you mean by "Unique IDs being duplicated"?  What steps should I take if that's the case?
