‎DS-SC4B diconnecting UBUNTU 22.04

  • Hello,

my Sabrent ‎DS-SC4B keeps disconnecting on my Ubuntu installation under load. So it stays connected while no Data is accessed, but completly kills the USB Host Controller when copying data to the HDD.

    [ 9995.468704] xhci_hcd 0000:01:00.0: ERROR unknown event type 15
[10000.471306] xhci_hcd 0000:01:00.0: xHCI host not responding to stop endpoint command.
    [10000.471321] xhci_hcd 0000:01:00.0: USBSTS: 0x00000000
[10000.471358] xhci_hcd 0000:01:00.0: xHCI host controller not responding, assume dead
    [10000.471396] xhci_hcd 0000:01:00.0: HC died; cleaning up

I also added the suggested quirks for the chip (diabling UAS):

    /etc/modprobe.d/disable-uas.conf

    options usb-storage quirks=174c:55aa:u

    and adding

    /etc/modules-load.d/usb-storage.conf

    options usb-storage quirks=174c:55aa:t

    This is the bootup dmesg:

The device is still crashing after some time, reboot brings ist back...

  • @k darkmaterial It looks like you did everything correctly. Out of curiosity, does it work okay if connected to a USB 3.0 (Gen 1x1/5Gbps) port?
