Say you are using the KVM for just keyboard and mouse, and have nothing connected on the thunderbolt ports.
If Laptop1 has the KB/Mouse assigned to it and you manually switch the display to Laptop2, the screen will only display for a few seconds, then will disconnect.
What makes this super weird, is if you put another power cable into Laptop2, this bug will go away. It's almost like it thinks there is a phantom monitor?
@nadir_datives_8i I'm assuming this is USB1: keyboard, USB2: mouse, PC1/PC2: two laptops. When switching with the button for kb/m from PC1 to PC2, PC2 "displays for a few seconds" and then disconnects. I'm not clear on this since both laptops would have their own primary displays. Normally there would be PD through the PC1/PC2 USB-C ports (if the KVM is powered) and hosts with DP Alt Mode capability could output display. Is PD being supplied to the KVM? Is PC2/Laptop2 connected to the KVM with a DP Alt capable USB-C port? These might cause a phantom issue depending on the specific configuration.

Both Laptops are on the same monitor but with different ports.
Say Laptop1 has active KVM. And you manually change the input of the monitor to Laptop2, you will see Laptop2 screen for 5-10 seconds, then it will disconnect leaving blank screen.
You can prevent the above behaviour by powering Laptop2 with another external power supply. I have no idea why this stops the issue, but it does.
@nadir_datives_8i I'm guessing it has to do with PD from the KVM and the sense of DP Alt Mode for the PC inputs. This is not a typical configuration so this might not be a bug per se but rather a weird outcome of this combination whereby using external PD stops the sensing. There may be other workarounds possible with additional effort and hardware but typically when used like this we recommend a separate HDMI switch for the display rather than using two separate display inputs.
Thank you for all the quick responses. Indeed an odd setup. I would run all the displays via thunderbolt to hdmi, but the inability to charge two laptops at the same time hurts :(
Need a fully programmable KVM where you can only move some inputs ;)
@nadir_datives_8i Yes, as stated in the other post it seems that certification required only charging active source. I'm not sure if this will remain true of our upcoming Thunderbolt 5 products. Our Thunderbolt 4 KVM has been pretty popular so we do keep tabs on feedback for improvements.
