Disk monitoring/tools?

  • I have a DS-2BCR with two 8TB drives running in RAID1 for redundancy, connected to a Mac running Sequoia.
It has been going for about 2 months now and I have started hearing an occasional worrying noise from one of the drives (like a skidding sound).
However, all I seem to have to go on are two LEDs on the front of the unit that both remain blue, suggesting that everything is fine.
Apple's Disk Utility is no use to me as it just sees the unit as one volume. Are there any tools that would help me monitor the individual drives?

  • @chrishands You will want to check SMART.

  • @Sabrent Yes, indeed I do. But as I stated in the original question, the Mac cannot tell the difference between the two drives in the RAID - as far as it is concerned, the Sabrent is a single device.
This is why I was asking if there were any particular tools that could see each drive individually, and hence be able to diagnose any problems at the drive (not volume) level
