DS-UFNC

  • Hello

So I bugth a DS-UFNC unit for bacing up my drives to a large HDD/NVME drive. This will be from current pc and older pc where I have removed som HDD. So I wounder if I insert any of the old HDD into the DS-UFNC unit and power it on, will a drive with an old WIN istallation try to run that windows i version and maybe corrupt my current win10 or will I be able to just copy out the user files/dokuments? • @Temo After connecting the DS-UFNC unit to the computer, make sure you enter the BIOS/UEFI and check the boot order. Avoid booting to the external/SCSI enclosure/drive. Or, you can attach the enclosure after the OS has already booted. If you need to boot specifically to the Windows system on the enclosed drive, that could be more tricky depending on how the old and new drives/systems are configured. There are some more advanced ways to access a Windows install, such as making an image that can be used as a virtual machine, as well.

  • Thanks, yes that was my plan, to insert the usb-drive after the laptop is up and running, and not boot with it connected.

  • @Temo You should be able to migrate files normally from Documents and similar without any problems.
