Availablity of Sabrent Rocket XTRM-Q External 16 TB SSD and viable alternatives for the new 2023 Mac Pro

  • Hello.

It seems that there is no availability for the Sabrent Rocket XTRM-Q External Thunderbolt 16 TB SSD.

    1) Does anyone have an estimate of when these drives will be back in stock?

    2) Is there a viable alternative for the new 2023 Mac Pro M2 Ultra uaing an internal SSD? Requirements are  a) If an external drive,Thunderbolt 3 or 4; b) SSD only(not HDD); c) 16 TB minimum capacity; d) if internal, needs to be a compatible PCIe with the slots in the new 2023 Mac Pro.

    Thanks.

  • @Mark Hill Sorry for the late reply after the holiday.

I think you will have to go external with that machine. Our 16TB XTRM-Q is actually dual 8TB SSDs as that is the largest size currently sold on the consumer market. These are expensive drives and are in short supply. You may be able to find a Thunderbolt enclosure/station with dual slots to populate (EC-T3DN) on your own, or run two 8TB drives over Thunderbolt with a daisy chain, hub, or multiple ports. We do sell 8TB SSDs like the Rocket 4 Plus and are working on other 8TB SSDs.
