I bought this to assist in formatting/preparing/scanning some drives that I bought for use in my NAS. I also have some other Sabrent products that work well for me. For the most part, it worked well with WD drives. WD Diagnostics could detect drives, their serials, run SMART tests, etc. But SeaTools could not detect the drive correctly and would not report any data on the drives, using either slot. I could see serial and SMART results with Crystal Disk Info, but couldn't do scans/repairs with SeaTools. Since that use case is important for 50% of the drives I use, I had to return it. If I were only using WD drives, I wouldn't have noticed this issue. And just to verify it wasn't just the drive - using a different HDD hub works fine and SeaTools can detect the drive without any issue. Maybe the chipset inside?
This unit works as advertised. It is easy (but not fast) to clone one drive to another without the use of a computer using this docking station.
I've been through a ton of these kinds of docks over the past decade, and most of them are pure garbage. Chinese knockoffs and weird off-brand models rarely worked for long, if at all, and it was almost a guarantee that one of the adapters wouldn't function out of the box...Not this model! This things worked 100%, right out of the box, with every adapter working just fine. It's compact, and the cover is a godsend, since the drive bays tend to collect dust and what-not over time. Finally, it's lightweight and compact, so it's easy to store. All in all, this was WELL worth the price, and I'd buy more products from this company in the future!
Solid all aluminum construction, fast, quiet and cool running. Using with Mac mini M1. Combination of 3.5 and 2.5 drives(with adapters of course) from 1tb to 14tb in all bays. Love the way each bay door inserts and removes its drive simply by opening and closing. No opinion on tech support because haven’t needed any.
works well for docking old hard drives that operating systems no longer work but have files for use or being stored. However, the drives get really hot if left on for long periods of time. So, I have to get what I need and then turn off.
Cumple su función , pero sería bueno que también leyera la información de los discos duros antes han cumplido la función de discos duros externos , no me gustó que ingresé un disco duro Seagate que antes cumplía función de disco duro externo y no me leyó la información que tenía en el .
Able to get the files from my dead computer onto my new computer. Also an easily removable back up storage drive with additional hard/S drives.
This device works great I have no complaints and have been using it to load and off load drives for a few months now. Does exactly what I need.
Contacted tech support and they were helpful but after several minutes of trouble shooting it was determined it didn’t support the “format” of the HDD I was trying to copy files from. Returned to Amazon.
Works as it should. A great price, too.
My husband love it able to store him pictures
There's nothing like walking from one room to another... or across town with a 2 TB drive. Movies, music, etc. It comes with it's own power supply and is an actual bootable drive. (Good for Linux distro's) I haven't tried the laptop drive part yet but I'm looking at 4 dead laptops with a hammer in my hand. I bought one for my niece for Christmas and gave her an old 500 gig drive I had with 400 gigs of movies on it. Part of it had over 80 Godzilla movies on it alone. I love it.
Exelente para clonar
It works
Works for spinning or SSD drives with no problem. I have used it for making direct copies of HDDs and also through USB from the computer(s) with no issues, all up to 4TB is working so far.
Best way I know of the reuse the hard drives from defunct computers so one doesn't loose their data and photos.
I used this to clone a hard drive and it worked fine. It did take several hours, but I was moving a full 1TB drive to a 2TB drive. I used a third party disk partition app to merge the new unused space into the partition from transferred from the original disk. No problems and no loss of data.
Great item really useful not super intuitive but a small learning curve would be better if it had no learning curve at all and it was just obvious but that would mean the designer of this item would have to be really thoughtful but instead it’s design by an 98% type person an almost got it perfect!!!
saved alot of time moving data among new drives
Quick setup, no instructions needed.
This thing is awesome and a life saver, so easy to plug a drive in and duplicate
Super easy to use. I had NO IDEA what I was doing but I pulled it off! I love this little machine.
Pros:The unit was easy to set up and use, very straight forward. I have now cloned several SSD drives successfully.I would recommend this without reservation.Cons:The unit is a is light plastic and doesn't feel real solid due to this, and that is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.
Works fast
works as it should
Works great, plug and play so easy to use
Worked fine, until it didn't. This thing worked for almost 4 months. Bummer
So easy to setup. Just plug it in
No issues so far had it for a year and still going strong. Hasn't let me down, it has tackled all jobs successfully so far.
Disk to disk worked like a champ.Ghosted a big drive to a smaller drive thru this and had no issues.Only con is with disk to disk, the destination drive has to be equal or larger due to no software intervention. Which is why I had use ghost but works as described.
Just what I needed to use spare 3.5" hard drives as additional storage.
Good build quality and easy install. First use was to clone a 500GB drive; process was smooth and fast, ran unattended. The USB 3.0 connection is fast enough, but an eSATA connection would have been useful as well.
Very simply install (plug and play) and works as expected. No complaints from me!
