How can we help you?
Start with the basics: try a different cable (for USB-C, make sure it is a data cable, not charge-only), a different port, and on a desktop use the rear ports. If it still does not appear, check Disk Management on Windows or Disk Utility on Mac. Important: if your data matters, do not format or initialize the drive if prompted, as that can erase recoverable files.
This is normal SLC cache behavior, not a defect. The drive writes to a fast cache first, and once that fills during a sustained transfer, it drops to its base write speed. After a short idle period the full speed returns. Everyday use almost always stays within the cache.
Internal SSDs are covered for 5 years with no registration needed. External and portable SSDs are 3 years, or 5 with registration. Hubs, docks, enclosures, adapters, cables, and memory cards are 1 year, or 2 with registration. Chargers are 2 years, or 3 with registration. SSDs are also limited by their rated TBW, whichever comes first. Proof of purchase from an authorized seller is required.
Registration within 90 days of purchase extends coverage on most products. Internal SSDs are the exception, as they are covered for 5 years automatically. Registering also keeps a clean record of your purchase, which makes any future claim faster.
Not as internal storage. Post-2016 Macs use a proprietary SSD connector, so standard M.2 NVMe drives are not compatible internally. They work perfectly as external storage through a USB or Thunderbolt enclosure. Format as APFS for Mac-only use, or exFAT to share between Mac and Windows.
Most Rocket NVMe drives work in the PS5 expansion slot if they meet Sony's requirements: PCIe Gen 4, M.2 2280 form factor, and a heatsink is strongly recommended since the bay runs hot. The PS5 formats the drive during setup, so do not store anything on it beforehand. Not sure about your model? Try our compatibility checker.
Intermittent drops are usually a power issue rather than a fault. On a laptop, plug it into its charger while the device is connected, since many laptops reduce USB power on battery. A powered hub is a permanent fix. Also try a different cable and, on Windows, disable USB power management in Device Manager.
Have your proof of purchase, the product model or SKU, the serial number if it has one, clear photos of the front and back, and your shipping address ready. Submit these through the warranty form and our team will confirm your coverage and the next steps.
Warranty covers the hardware, not data on the drive. We are not responsible for data on a returned unit, so always back up before sending anything in. If a drive holding important data has failed, recovery software or a professional recovery service is the best route, and you should stop using the drive to avoid overwriting recoverable files.
