Big fan of the sleek design!
easy to install ssd drive, and secure.
Having a bumper on my external HDD enclosure is amazing! Didn't really test speeds and all that fun stuff, but it has worked for me!
i had to search for just the right 2.5" hhd to fit...the width is just a bit too narrow, really had to jam my hdd into the slot for it to fit, and I have no idea how I am getting it out. but it i solid, and the interface is quick.wish it had usb-c, just so that the cable was compatible with my other usb -c cables
Works great. Made porting files from my old SATA to my new laptop simple.
I bought this enclosure a while ago but long story short, if you have a spare 2.5 Inch Drive laying around and need an enclosure, you can't go wrong with this one. It is easy to install into the case itself, make the connections, and plug and play from there with zero need for any software or third-party tools. One thing of note however; I used an SSD and installed it into this enclosure (it seems that Sabrent has made updates to the overall design itself since I bought this so the issue maybe resolved), but it did noticeably slide around and there was enough "play" inside the enclosure for concern. I did end up putting a piece of thermal pad inside the drive to help with heat management, but also stop the drive from bouncing around and playing / ruining the SATA connection. That is more of a me issue as in I didn't do my research well enough before buying this enclosure, but nevertheless, an issue that I did want to make a note of and make everyone aware of so they don't make the same mistake as me.
Quick and easy assembly makes this perfect for that old but important hard drive that you need to replace in your notebook.
Likes:1. Solidly-built aluminum case. I have an older notebook hard drive in one right now, running a surface check. The case has gotten warm but not hot. That helps protect the drive.2. Very good USB3 cable, great length. I hate short cables, my desk is crowded and sometimes an external drive needs to sit a few feet away from my laptop.Dislike:Fitting the end of the case in with drive attached was a bit difficult. The little screwdrivers are cute, but I had to use a real screwdriver and press hard on the case end to get it to seat properly.Notes1. It's USB-A on both ends, not USB-C.2. It works fine with Linux. They need to update their description.3. Haven't tried their tech support. Registering for an account there wasn't as intuitive as it could be, but worth if for to extend the warranty.4. About storage. I'm using old notebook hard drives, 500GB. I presume if you can physically fit the notebook drive into the case, the case can handle any capacity drive.
My old laptop had some failing hardware but a good drive. So I used the case to convert my old laptop battery into an USB storage device. installation was real easy. Plug the little control board to the drive, drop the drive into the case and screw the lid on. The screws are a bit finicky due to its size but it was not to difficult to do. The drive fist really snug in the case. There is not much shock absorption so I would not throw the drive to much around especially when it is plugged in and running. What is nice is the drive has a regular USB receptacle so using standard cables are an option. It came with a USB cable so it was ready to use after dropping the drive in it. I did not notice any issues. I was able to copy a couple of hundred Gigabyte back and forth and I was able to reformat the drive to get rid of the windows operating system that was still on in. I really like this as a solution to reduce computer waste. Reusing computer parts and saving money at the same time is a great benefit. Plus, when recycling the computer I know no one can get sensitive information from it since I kept the drive with my data. One little side note, they even supplied a baby sized screwdriver to use for the two screws. Nice touch and useful for folks who done have all the tools. I highly recommend it.
Has everything I need to install my SSD.
A little too narrow. Did not fit my laptop hard drive
nothing to dislike
Product works great, turned my internal hard drive into an external hard drive and that was all I was hoping for! Product is well made, easy plug and play pretty much, and now I have a new 1 terabyte hard drive I can plug into anything. So nice that it also came with a USB cable!
I do like this cover; I have already dropped it a couple of times but have had no issues; I like that the cord is just an old, ordinary usb on both ends for a change. The one issue to be aware of is that the hard drive too easily slips out, which is why I have dropped it at least once (when I realized then I am more careful). If there is a way to secure it, I must have missed it. The usb fits very snug, which I like, but when I go to unplug the cord form the various computers I use, the hard drive slides right out with the cord. I have made my peaceful resolution with this issue and other than that, I am satisfied.
Nice little enclosure. It is very easy to get an SSD installed.
SSD coolers. Had stall times pre-install. No more lag times in open world games. GeForce 1060 6GB graphics card.
I bought this item because a previous review said this cooler would fit inside a playstation 5 mounted on an m.2 drive. It 100% will not. At least not on a Samsung 980 Pro. The heatpipes not only keep the drive from being inserted, they also block access to the retention screw. None of this the the fault of the cooler. It looks like a solid, well built, quality piece. Just don't buy it to fit into the ps5. Not unless you want to hammer the heatpipes flat.
Easy to install, quality material used, and it functions as advertised. My 980PRO heated up to 52c while gaming, Now down to 39c. The heatsink is tall in height so check your motherboard(GPU) for clearance.
Bought this for a WD SN850 to go in my PS5. The metal cover plate for the SSD slot on the PS5 won't fit with this cooler, but the side panels will. Probably better airflow like this anyway.
My new NVME drive was running 52C at idle. This brought it down to 46, without direct airflow over the drive.
I bought this to put a wd ssd into a pcie x8 slot. Windows 10 instantly recognized it. Works great.
I had a spare M2 NVME 512gb SSD (had OS inside and other information/I didn't format it) that I installed on the PCIE slot using this Sabrent enclosure and all went well! My computer saw the drive and I'm able to access it with no issues. I just can't boot up from there obviously! The quality seem pretty good and they even included a screwdriver and thermal pads (I think that's what it was - I didn't use them) All in all I'm pretty happy that it worked without any snags and even included those extras. The price of $17 seemed pretty fair.
Works on ps5 disc version think it might not fit digital version but had to move m.2 forward because if you line up with screw hole ps5 won't detect it.
Received the item on time, installation was quick and simple. It works as it should.
Bought this for my Samsung 970 Evo plus. At rest before was 50f and now 33f. Gaming was 72f now it is 50f. This cooler made a huge difference and I don't even have a fan pointing at it.
I haven't had a chance to try the heatsink to see if it works or how well it works, because my sealed, apparently brand new package came without screws. There are a lot of screws lying around my house, but none of these tiny little things that will work, so...I guess I'll be returning it since I can't put it together properly. Very disappointing!Update: I had to spend a couple of hours at a hardware store but I found some screws that will work. They're bulky and don't fit flush with the outside of the heatsink, but luckily I have room on my motherboard so they do the job. Now, to actually review the heatsink! I'm pretty happy with it. Build is high quality, this is a solid piece of work. Installation was extremely simple, because the thermal tape was already placed on the bottom and top side of the heatsink. There was an additional strip of tape for single sided drives, which I used on my Samsung 970 EVO. All I had to do was strip the clear film off the tape(s), drop the extra tape onto the bottom of the heatsink, drop in the SSD (pay attention to where the side with the notch goes in relation to the heatsink - they mention it in the instructions, and it matters!), and tighten 4 screws. Then it slipped into place perfectly on my MSI motherboard.Temps dropped significantly with the heatsink compared to without. My drive would idle in the mid to high 40's without, and during gaming (since the M2 slot on this motherboard is directly above the GPU) get in the mid 50's, sometimes close to 60. Supposedly that's ok, but I am much happier now with it idling at 35-36, and maxing out at 43 when gaming. That's like a 12-15 degree drop in temps while gaming, I'll take it!Still deducting a star for having to shop my own mounting screws, though.
Made with quality and easy to install. Installed in PS5 will fit but cover will not go back on. Time will tell if this is a bad idea.
This disk was easy to install, easy to create the OS on, and boot in an instant. Great purchase!!
I'm currently running 2 of these, a 2TB and a 500GB in my ESXi servers as the primary storage. Being enterprise machines they didn't have m.2 ports available. These were the solution and worked flawlessly.Picked up by any OS I tried immediately, works well and as fast as you'd expect.
this heat sink made a one degree improvement in heat dissipation, the build and the quality of material is good but it is not changing anything. returning it and will be creating my own with a cooling fan.
