issue with EC-DFFN losing connection with computer? (blinking blue light?)


  • Hello, this enclosure is continiously losing it's connection to the computer (no longer recognized in file explorer after a period of time). It initially only did it a couple times a week, but no does it at least twice a day. I have tried it with various discs, so I know it's not just a single disc issue. I have other enclosures, and have tried them with the same USB port for a couple days, and they have stayed connected, so it's not the USB port. I have another one of these models ( EC-DFLT without the fan), and it has worked fine for a similar period of time (I bought them within a couple weeks of each other). I've seen where other customers on Amazon seem to have a similar issue... Anyone else here? Any ideas what it could be? I can simply power it off/on, and it reconnects, but I shouldn't have to keep doing it (especially when I am trying to transfer data to it regularly)

  • @PhishDad If possible, try a different USB cable. If that fails, contact customer service and see what they say. In some cases they may have a firmware update, in others they will advise you to try a different cable and port. A replacement power supply or unit might be required following that.
