Cannot power on one of the bays in a Sabrent DS-SC5B

  • I bought a Sabrent DS-SC5B in Dec 2021.  I have only been using 3 of the 5 bays (E3, E4 & E5).  I recently removed some 10TB Seagate drives from a NAS I have & installed two of them into the last two bays (E1 & E2).  Pushing the powerswitches, E2 came up with no problem.  However E1 will not power up.  I know the product is out of warranty, so I was going to try & fix it myself.  Is there a teardown diagram which will show how to get to the various parts so that I can investigate?

    Thank you.

    Bill

  • @StillJustABill It is against general policy to offer that sort of thing, but I can tell you the DS-SC5B was built with the VL822 and ASM235CM. You can get more information about those from their respective PDF datasheets. When it comes to our USB hubs and other products we will often daisy-chain the controllers which can cause issues similar to the above in some cases if something goes wrong in hardware or compatibility. You should be able to see one or more of the mentioned chips on the board which might help you pinpoint.
