I have this product and it's great!
Can you request your product design team to turn it in to a 1U rack mount version?
I use it with a Lenovo M920q tiny computer and it would certainly help clear up some U-space in my 8U rack.
It could be inserted into the spare bay to the right of my rackmount beside my Lenovo tiny machine, as seen in the image.
If the unit could meet these dimensions, it would be a perfect fit :)

OH WOW!! This is a great idea!! I wishi I could like this 1000x because I have so many small business clients with low space for their data storage and this kind of thing would fit PERFECTLY!!
I have five cleint with the SABRENT 4 Bay Hard Drive Docking Station encluosure but it takes up nearly 4Us in the rack.
I hope they can retool their design like you suggested and I would forever be a customer.
