Hi --
I purchased a Sabrent EC-SSHD to connect a CD ROM drive to my computer running Windows 10. The drive powers up with the cable connected but my machine does not recognize the CD ROM. Is the EC-SSHD compatible with CD ROM drives?
Thanks
Rich

@Richard Morey It's likely your CD-ROM requires power that this type of adapter does not provide. You would want one that can handle 3.5" drives.
The drive powers up though when connected to my PC?
Can you recommend a cable / adapter that will work?
Thanks

@Richard Morey It depends on the device and port, as a 0.5A port for a 3.5" HDD for example would not work. Also, optical drives may require ATAPI support on the adapter, with which UASP might interfere. You could try to use it in a red/1.0A port for the former, or a USB2.0 port for the latter. Otherwise it may require BOT/non-UASP operation which could be done by temporarily disabling the UASP driver or finding custom BOT firmware.
