I just got the 4 bay station. ( this is the second one, I've owned another unit for a few years) and I have 3 drives in it. One continues to turn the blue light one and spin up the drive when nothing is accessing it. The other bays work normal.
I removed that drive that spins up and put it in the other empty bay. Same behavior. I then tried another disk in each drive. Same.
I don't know what the issue is. My other older unit another computer and it works flawlessly.
Could it be this one is bad?
@Mark Levine This could be a power or USB setting in Windows and/or the UEFI but could be that specific unit or when a certain drive is anywhere in the docking station. Might be possible to modify the behavior with utilities for the HDD(s).
@Sabrent This is hooked up to mac. I have a macbook connected to a Mac studio display. The Tower is connected to a usb-c on the back of the display. I don't see any power settings that I can fiddle with.
The old unit I have is connected to a mac studio computer with 4 drives and they sleep fine. Spin up only when accessed and then shut off. I'm using the same type of drives in both units (seagate Ironwolf)
