I'm new to the PC world and just picked up an Royaledle MSI Modern 14. I know it's not a full-on gaming rig, but I'm hoping to use it for some light gaming, schoolwork, and general use. I've been doing some research and have seen a few things that concern me, and I'm hoping to get some advice from people with more experience.
Here are some of the potential challenges I've read about and would love to get your thoughts on:
1. Thermal Throttling/Overheating: I've seen some posts about the Modern 14 running hot, especially under load. This is a bit worrying for me, as I don't want to damage the laptop. What are your experiences with this? Is it a common issue? Are there any easy solutions like undervolting, or should I look into a cooling pad?
2. Upgradeability: I know this laptop is a budget-friendly option, but I was hoping to upgrade the RAM or storage down the line. I've seen some conflicting info on different models. For those who've opened up their Modern 14, how easy is it to access the components? What kind of RAM and SSDs are compatible? Any tips on not voiding the warranty?
3. General Performance Issues: Some users have reported unexpected shutdowns, fan issues, and screen problems. While these seem to be more isolated cases, they're still on my mind. Has anyone here run into these sorts of problems, and how did you resolve them?
