Enclosure works well, dissipates adequate heat. Great for extra space or for a backup.

Sabrent must have changed the case design as there are no notches in the TB3 port. Not all TB3/4 cables will work as the port shroud will prevent cables with larger plug shells from fitting in properly. I have tested a Nekteck Thunderbolt 3 Cable, 100W 40Gpbs Thunderbolt 3 Certified USB C Cable and it fits/works fine.

I was tasked with editing a 4K/24fps interview for a local client and needed a separate drive to hold the data on from the internal on my M1 MacBook Pro. I had an old 240GB MyDigitalSSD BPX (2280) M.2 NVMe SSD lying around, so I thought it would make the perfect video editing drive, but I needed an enclosure that could fully use the NVMe speed--something Thunderbolt 3. I still use a Sabrent-brand NVMe drive in another computer that has performed perfectly since I bought it, so thought highly of the manufacturer.This was no disappointment. The box feels solid and hard, so tough I have no problem just throwing this drive into my bag along with my other components. The assembly is almost insultingly easy, no tools needed to insert the drive and close it up, not even a screw to hold down the M.2 drive. The only confusing part of installation was the lack of any information on what the cooling pads were for--I had to look up on YouTube to realize the colorful blue stickers were to act as cooling pads for the drive, and the reason it came with two of them was because they were different thicknesses. I ended up using the thinner of the two since the thicker one didn't quite fit.Since then, it's been perfect. I was able to edit my 4K/24 interview in Premiere Pro on my M1 MacBook Pro without any drive-related performance issues. Any slowdowns that happened were due to CPU processing and not the drive's delivery of data. The box does get warm, but not too warm. It never gets too hot to touch, and it never fails even after hours of use. I've worked with the drive both plugged in direct and through my CalDigit TS3 Plus, and in both arrangements performance is identical. My only issue was that the price IS higher than other enclosures, but I guess you just have to pay more for the faster interface--unquestionably, it's worth it.

Lo compré para instalar el sistema operativo de mac (monterey) en mi iMac del 2017 sin tener que destriparlo, con todos los riesgos que eso conlleva. Llevé a cabo un tutorial de un inglés muy simpático que lo llevaba a cabo, el cual recomendaba esta carcasa y como es terminada en un aluminio muy elegante pues la compré, pensando que sería una velocidad de transferencia de 40 Gbps. Pues no, el máximo son 20 Gbps, la que usaba el del tutorial era una que si que llegaba a esas tasas de transferencia, pero que evidentemente era mas cara.Conclusión: La uso todos los dias con un módulo sabrent 2280 de 2 tb y ha dado un cambio radical en cuanto a la funcionalidad del iMac, las tasas de transferencia las podeis ver en la imagen adjunta. No son una bestialidad, pero si bastante mejores que el "fusion drive" que traían los iMac de 2017.

Thunderbolt model works exactly as advertised, gets a little hot though

I love this enclosure. I also bought the newly released Trebleet at the same time, but the Trebleet had to ship from China and took weeks to arrive. I bought the Trebleet directly and not from Amazon.This has made my editing of 4k video so much better. I love it.I don't think the Trebleet is worth the extra cost, as I don't think most will benefit from the increased speeds, some yes, most no.

I got this for my M1 iMac and a WD_SN750 1tb ssd. The performance is quite good. Read/1500, write/1200. I think what I like besides the performance is just how solid and well constructed it is. Plus, it’s the easiest enclosure I’ve used to swop drives with.

Ci ho montato una blade Samsung Pro da 2TB già formattata exFAT con un mezzo tera di roba già sopra. Riconosciuta al volo sui miei due MacBook Pro (un Intel e un Apple Silicon). Prestazioni incredibili! Facile da montare (non occorrono cacciaviti o altri attrezzi) e la confezione contiene due tappetini di pasta termoconduttiva. Nei prossimi giorni la testerò su Mac Mini (M1) e su un PC Windows. Acquisto vivamente consigliato.

This is a fantastic looking and feeling unit, really high quality, but unfortunately it only operates at half of the TB3 bus speed, meaning your NVMe drive will be limited to about 1300mbps, regardless of how fast the drive can go. It's a shame as it's otherwise a fantastic product.

Very fast if you use thunderbolt 3 cable.

There is no cable issues. Latest o es come with standard C cable and port, not the one with a hinge in between.See my compariaion pictures between traditional external HDD, Macbook Pro Intel internal SSD and 980 Pro with this case. Do I need to say anything else?

Speed from very short thunderbolt cable that came with unit, when using a WD SN750 SE ssd, were around the 1300 bps. I am assuming that the cable was a thunderbolt 3 cable.When switching to a thunderbolt 4 cable I started get both read and write speeds of 2800 bps plus.Am very satisfied with the enclosure, but not with the short thunderbolt cable that came with it.

La velocidad es muy cercana a USB 3.1, realmente no ofrece mucho por lo que cuesta, velocidades por arriba de los 12-15 Gbps (1300-1700 mbps), no alcanzarás la velocidad de thunderbolt, pero ni siquiera los 20 Gbps. Caro para lo que ofrece.Lo bueno es su construcción.Aún así, caro.

I wanted a fast external hard drive, and I had a 2TB NVMe drive that I wasn't using, after seeing the prices for Thunderbolt storage options, I opted for this. I've had numerous Sabrent components before and been happy with them, so I gave this a shot. Installation was super easy and tool-less. Speed is fantastic, and I had no issues getting this to work with my MacBook Pro. It does get hot when in heavy use, but I've yet to experience thermal throttling on the drive. I think the large enclosure does a great job dissipating heat.

Pros: heavy duty construction provides a heat sink for my Samsung 1tb 970 nvme card. Fast enough to run virtual OS from itCons: non so far.

Straight away, I could tell this is a superior product. The fit and finish is excellent. The quality of the materials is evident in the smoothness of the edges, the reassuring weight of the enclosure and the secure fitting of the cover. It was very easy to install my Western Digital SN750 NVME SSD. The instructions are simple and the SSD is held in place securely. I was worried by other reviews that said the cable had indents one of the plugs. I am happy to tell you the good news that Sabrent have obviously listened to these complaints because the one I received has no notches or bumps and uses a standard thunderbolt 3 cable. I haven't bothered with benchmarking because it seems just as fast in practice as my previous enclosure BUT this one does not randomly disconnect when I am writing or copying to the SSD. No more annoying error notifications nor crashed applications. This enclosure has a rock solid connection that does not disconnect at all!This is why I bought Sabrent and why the other, unreliable enclosure will probably go to recycling.

I needed to move my BBC Symphony Orchestra library from an external hard drive to an external Solid State Drive for my 2018 Mac Mini. It was an issue of needing high speed. I paired this enclosure with a Samsung 970 Evo Plus. It was easy to install the card. In under a minute I plugged it into the thunderbolt port and was up and running. It gets hot, but that is normal for these cards, and the enclosure seems to do a great job dissipating heat. I had based my purchase on the reviews of gamers, so now I’m paying it back for all the musicians who need an excellent storage solution for their libraries.

Much more reliable than cheaper options. No thermal throttling. Solidly built. Works well in macOS and Windows on my 2019 16MBP. Very fast.

Amazing performance on a MacBook M1 and a 970Pro. Super easy to install. Does not get hot. Cable is a bit small but not as problem to get a replacement.

The first impression when I took it out from the box... It has quick a bit of weight and feels very solid. The material used is premium and the installation is a no-brainer. I'm using a Sabrent Rocket 1Tb and the speed is great. Not the highest compared to my other Orico APM2T3-G40 but the quality and design are far superior.

I bought this Thunderbolt 3 SSD enclosure in Nov 2021. As I have seen now, they have changed the socket and cable so that it can accept a standard TB3 cable.This is the best SSD enclosure I have ever bought. Feels rock solid in hand. It's an all metal construction with very good build quality.The enclosure runs at PCI E 3.0x2 and is only compatible with Thunderbolt (and not typical USB-C ports, although they have the same physical connector). SSD speed should be over 1,000 MB/s, which is suitable for a MacBook storage expansion.The design is completely tool-free and installation is super easy.

This is a well made product. The fit and finish is first rate and installation of ssd takes all of 30 seconds. Unlike other enclosures, access to drive does mot involve removing stick on feet to access case screws. The Thunderbolt cable is detachable and replacements ate available if needed from Sabrent.

Beim letzten Black Friday habe ich mir eine Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2 TB PCIe 3.0 gekauft und habe dafür ein Gehäuse gesucht, welches die Schreib- und Leseraten der EVO SSD von ca. 3500MB/s optimal ausschöpft. Angeschlossen wird das Gehäuse an einem iMac 27 Zoll Baujahr 2019 mit Thunderbolt 3 Schnittstelle (40GBit/s)Das Laufwerksgehäuse macht mechanisch einen sehr guten Eindruck. Gehäuse ist aus Vollalu und die SSD wird mit einer Schraube befestigt. Das Anschlusskabel selbst ist ca 20 cm lang und ist von außen am Gehäuse gesteckt. Schrauben und Werkzeug wird nicht benötigt.Nachteil des Gehäuses, die Schreibrate lag bei ca 840MB/s. Die Lesegeschwindigkeit lab ca. 1500MB/s mit der Samsung 970 EVO 2TB Plus.(siehe Bild). Somit viel zu schlecht für den Preis. Die SSD wurde in dem Gehäuse vorher mit dem Mac Formatter formatiert.Ein Update auf neue Samsung Firmware ist nicht möglich, da die SSD durch die Bridge im Gehäuse nicht durch den Samsung Updater (Windows) erkannt wird. Einige User schreiben, dass Sie in dem Gehäuse bereits eine EVO 970 2TB Plus benutzten und super zufrieden sind. Evt. geht das Gehäuse mit einer SSD von einem anderen Hersteller besser.Fazit eine Gehäuse welches die 970 EVO Plus 2TB richtig super unterstützt habe ich nicht gefunden. Somit tut aktuell auch ein Gehäuse mit USB 3.2 und kostet nur 30-40 Euro.Somit für das Gehäuse nur 3 Sterne

I use an iMac with a hard drive at work and wanted something a little zippier, so I bought a 1TB NVMe gaming SSD and this case. Installing the SSD was very simple - no tools needed, just as described. The included Thunderbolt cable is a little short but works for my purpose. The performance is amazing; I could probably have gone with a USB enclosure but this was a single-purpose use and I wanted the higher speed. Happy with it so far, but if you need USB 3.x compatibility, look elsewhere.
