Excellent design that fits and works as advertised.
This plugs in from the rear of my MAC. The ports are accessed from the front. Falls off when plugging in USB's. Cool idea but, poor design.
Snaps right onto an iMAC, providing USB ports to the front of the iMAC, instead of having to peer around the back of the iMAC, or having to create another hub somewhere else.
FINALLY! So sick of pulling the iMac around and stuffing my fat head behind it, only to realize I need a flashlight AGAIN just to plug in a USB. apple’s Form Over Function fetish is stupid. This thing is finicky to get right since it has to fit tight. Cram it into the USB port, then sqquueeeeze it’s little plastic prongs into the slot on the bottom of the housing. Make sure it’s all the way in the port. Tight fit!
This is the PERFECT addition to a great computer. It has always been difficult to plug and unplug USB items on the back of my iMac. This simple solution is great. It doesn't take up any desk space and is totally convenient to use.Thank you Sabrent!
Great add-on that simplifies plugging in various attachments...flash drives, DVD players...to my IMac. Eliminates the need to turn the screen 90 degrees every time you want to attach or detach a flash drive. A nice, convenient accessory.
I can actually access the USB C ports without sliding then monitor out of position to reach the rear.I would recommend this device to all iMac users.
I do a lot of my work from home, and that involves taking my portable external drive back and forth to the office. I appreciate the convenience of being able to quickly attach and detach on the front of my iMac, especially the one at home that is harder to get behind. As others have mentioned, it was a tight install, but once I got it on there, it's as solid as if it were part of the machine. My biggest concern was the complaints about others' machines having a hard time waking from sleep, for whatever reason, while the hub was attached. I've had no such problem. I do agree with the other reviews about this little thing being kind of overpriced, and I ended up spending more on a 5v adaptor just so my portable drive would power up when plugged in. Otherwise it's a nifty little addition that spares me a lot of crawling around looking for available sockets on the powered hub I have mounted to the rear of my desk. An 8-port version would be a nice upgrade.
Excellent. Looks like part of the Mac and fixes the annoying need to fidget behind the display.
There are never enough USB ports on an Apple iMac and this is a welcome addition. I bought this in part because of the appearance, it looks like it's a part of the screen. And it is convenient to have those ports available. It is a little tricky snapping it in, but once in place it's ready to go.
Hub will NOT fit on my 2019 iMac 21.5 inch Desktop Computer! Bummer! However, it will fit on my older 2011 iMac. Some consolation.
Haven't had any issues with it.
My iMac is a 2013 model. I had a port replicator hooked to it but it was just laying on my desk. I put this device on it and it works great. in fact i can now reboot my iMac without unpluging the usb devices just an extra bonus!!!
It fit on my 2013 iMac I like the way it looks and does the job but I can’t charge my phone or connect my iPhone to transfer files. Which kind of disappointing because that was one of my main reasons to get this.
It fits perfectly on my circa 2013 Mac desktop. Makes it very convenient for ports to be on the front of the unit rather than in the rear. Works great for SD cards from my drone also.
Fit was a little tight. Works great!
good ig
The items works fine, the 20 pins cable provided are too thick and stiff.
It worked great for a multi port. Convenient to have one port to arrange the electronics.
All 4 of the USB 3.0 ports on the front of my computer case (Thermaltake Core X9) now work with my Crosshair Hero VII which only had one USB 3.0 header. Before this Sabrent hub I tried a USB 3.1 header to 3.0 adapter. This only allowed one port to work and only with USB 3.0 devices because the legacy data line for USB 2.0 devices is not present. I also tried adding a PCI-E USB card to add a second USB 3.0 header. It caused the system to fail to boot when the SATA power was attached and changed the boot order if anything was left plugged into it.You cannot use the SATA power connector with this device if you want your computer to behave normally. It doesn't want the power to go off as long as anything is plugged into it, much like the PCI-E card I tried before. As a passive hub it works but you loose charging capability. I found a way around the issue by not providing power from the computer. What I did was to use an external power supply with a SATA connector to power this hub. It works well in this configuration. To find a power supply like I used, search Amazon for a Hard Drive to USB 2.0 Adapter Cable. Make sure to get one with the power brick that ends in a SATA connector and not one with a standard round power connector. Warmstor was the brand I bought.
good
I like Sabrent products. I have quite a few of them. I bought this for a computer build I was doing where I needed two USB 3.0 20-pin connections. It works and I like it... Except for the heavy, rigid, and long 20-pin extension cable that connects to your motherboard. It's inflexible and (to my mind) too long. To clean up my build I had to get a 20-pin USB 3.0 ribbon extension cable. A more flexible cable (or a ribbon cable instead of the inflexible double cable) would greatly improve this hub controller. Cable management is important.
Worked like a champ with my am4 setup. Perfect device for what i needed.
Does what it was designed to do well. Cables a little to inflexible.
Purchased as the PC build project for which it has now been installed lacked sufficient USB 3.0 internal headers.Installation has also enabled the addition of a DeLock USB 3.0 Expansion Bracket which is a bonus.I have elected not to connect the SATA power connection following numerous Amazon reviews noting that it leads to shut down issues.Everything remains untested as the PC build is not as yet complete
Works perfect for expanding my usb 3.0
Works well
This hub was bought for a desk PC I'm throwing together where I wanted many USB ports on the front of the desk PC. I was skeptical of it due to the rating but after reading the other reviews, it seems that it only exhibits the weird issues they describe when you connect the SATA power connector at the end to power. It apparently lets some of that power flow back into the computer. I left it off and had no issues hibernating, sleeping, or turning off my computer. I have connected the hubs 8 ports to external hard drives (with their own power adapter), flash drives, and smart phones and had zero issues. So long as you keep your expectations on power delivery in check, this hub should do the trick.
Works fine for me. Maybe the reason why you guys are having issues is because you plugged in the SATA cable. I didn’t bother since I don’t need the extra power. The SATA cable is more for the external USB ports which I won’t be using. My computer turns off and functions with no issues.
Hooked this up with 3 drives, worked OK, but kept disconnecting. I called customer service, discovered I needed the external power supply. Doesn't say that anywhere on printed material or box. The customer service was a lady who combined broken English with very rude behavior--interrupting, patronizing. Hope it works when I get the power supply, but if you have to call them, prepare yourself.
