One end of the SD card slides into the mount, but the other end is held down via a rubber grommet, which was difficult for me to push into the hole. No guidance is provided in the instructions. Use a small screwdriver to bend the rubber grommet slightly and push into the hole. I would have preferred a screw. I'm not sure how well the grommet will hold the SD cards in place. Loss of stars is due to the poor mount. The aluminum case is nice.

I hav3 two evo 980’s 1gb each and this box is super small and blisteringly quick even better it comes with its own mains power supply so no taking power from thunderbolt 3.Iwill be buying more of these they are brilliant

Eigentlich werfe ich ja nicht gerne mit Superlativen um mich, aber dieses Produkt löste tatsächlich für mich als Musikproduzenten ein Problem: "Wie bekomme ich meine gesamte Musik- und Sample Library auf einen sehr schnellen, kleinen Datenträger, der genügend Kapazität besitzt. Zwei 2 Terrabyte Nvme M2 Festplatten in einem Gehäuse, bevorzugte ich einer wahrscheinlich günstigeren SSD Variante. Grund für mich war die Geschwindigkeit. Meine kompletten Spectrasonics und Native Instruments etc..Librarys laden sich so schnell als wären sie im Rechner installiert. Ich hatte vorher SSD Lösungen aber Nvme's haben mich überzeugt.

This works great and is a nice high-speed solution when you need fast storage for additional drives. The insertion mechanism could be better, but it is holding up nicely.

Moreover given that it is a Thunderbolt technology It is not plug and play: I have to restart the pc for which are supported.As for the speed of transfer I did not see a lightning speed as mentioned. I was looking for the fastest possible drives to do 4K video editing, and so far this particular interface is the fastest I've tried so far, but only if you get the fastest drives you can, and configure it as a RAID.To put this to the test, I tried about 4 different drives from 3 different manufacturers and the differences were pretty diverse.For example, I assumed Western Digital's WD BLACK series would be near the top of the list, but it was nearly half the speed of the fastest, which was the Samsung EVO 970 series. The WD Black could only write at about 785 MB/s vs the Samsung's 1333.That said, using TWO Samsung EVO 970s in a RAID configuration I was able to write at a blazing 2171 MB/s and read at over 2500 MB/s.My only complaint is that like all of the dual drive cases I've seen, you need to use a power supply (supplied).Another great thing about this particular case is the simplicity. The case opens without any tools, so you can swap drives pretty easily. Just keep in mind that if you decide to use it as a striped (performance) RAID, you need to make sure you always put both of the same drives back because once you make a RAID out of the pair, they can only work when used together.WARNING - If you decide to use both drives as a performance RAID, if one drive fails you will lose ALL of your data, so make sure you only use high quality drives and make backups of anything important. For fault tollerance, you should either configure it as two different drives, or as mirrored drives. If you do this, the drives will work at slower speeds.

A dual SSD enclosure taking advantage of the Thunderbolt 3 speed is a tempting reason to consider this device, but that comes with a confusingly huge power brick that questions the portability. Yes, the power (12V, 4A) is required, and powering via the cable is not an option. The housing, however, is tantalizingly well designed as it's made of massive aluminum and does not require any tools to install the SSD. (Make sure it's a PCIe based M.2 and not SATA as the latter is not compatible. That aside SATA based M.2 are also much slower.)The enclosure is simply well designed and feels like it's worth the money. The massive aluminum walls spread the heat well, provided you used a thick thermal pad. You'll know when the lid does close with slight resistance. With an improper or no pad, the SSD tends to get very hot and that even transfers to the housing.Note: For the enclosure to work, a cable with an e-marker is required. That means you need a Thunderbolt 3 (or 4) cable, even if a short USB cable would technically suffice.With a single Samsung EVO 980 Pro installed, the read speed comes in at 1547 MB/s and writing is no slouch either with 1310 MB/s. Both are limited by the internal controller, rather than the SSD or the cable. That speed rating is using Blackmagic DiskSpeed on a 2020 MAC mini (w/ M1). Connecting to a Windows 11 based Lenovo C930, the read speed clock in at 1673 MB/s while write only returns with 609 MB/s. Of course, in that case Blackmagic wasn't available and the results from CrystalDiskMark may not be directly comparable. (Lenovo / Windows require to allow Thunderbolt devices for anything to be visible, which seemed to be the biggest hurdle at first.)Now on to the inevitable discussion of portability. While Sabrent included a nice Silicone cover to keep the aluminum housing from damage, it's quite questionable who will carry the drive around with the mandatory power brick that's much bigger (and heavier) than the enclosure itself. The brick can provide up to 40W which is simply puzzling since the SSD drives don't need that much power. It does, however, allow using Corning's AOC cable with it. (Mac only)Note: Mentioned cable does not provide power to the far end and a non-powered enclosure simply wouldn't power the respective plug and therefore not work. So, power is good, but in the case of an enclosure like this, long cables don't seem useful and certainly negate any claim of portability.In the end, I did need this for a specific configuration but I have trouble seeing practical need for an enclosure with a mandatory dedicated power supply. Portability feels different. And if it's for raw speed, an m.2 PCIe SSD is much faster when used in a PCIe socket (up to 7000 MB/s) inside a computer. Those are nowadays standard on many motherboards to have two m.2 slots available which are either PCIe3 or PCIe4 powered. Even laptops may be better off with upgrading the SSD than relying on an external drive like this.Having said that, build quality and performance are convincing. It did meet my specific needs and neither the high cost nor the limited portability were enough to deter me.RAID: I ended up adding a second (identical) EVO980Pro for RAID-0 (striping). It doesn’t quite double the speed, but comes in at a respectable 2 GB/s for write and 2.4 GB/s for read. That’s about 65% faster. However, unlike a single drive, the write speed deteriorated after a minute or so to 1.5 GB/s while read speed remained the same. The enclosure is only mildly warm to the touch.PS: unlike other reports, a Hynix Gold P31 worked just fine with enclosure (using a 2020 Mac mini) albeit at a slower speed.

Really happy with this product. I have 2 2TB WD Blue SN550 NVMe SSD in there and although the write speed isn't great at about 1100MB the read speed is brilliant 2300MB, this is running in Raid 1 (Client Video work so needed the redundancy) via thunderbolt 3 on a 2020 Macbook Pro. Perfect for working on large projects. Build Quality is excellent and comes with a thunderbolt cable. It is a little trick to get the drives into place but not too difficult. Definitely recommend this

Moved my two usb-c cased NVMes into this device. The thunderbolt speed bump is great and a whole lot more stable. No more mysterious usb disconnects.As with the other reviews, the power brick is amusingly large, but not any real imposition.

Es un gran producto, lee los dos ssd que probé nvme los dos, no funciona con ordenadores con procesadores AMD solo funciona con INTEL lo probe con Windows 10 y Windows 11 y funciona bien. Próximamente lo probare con el hipervisor Proxmox

A few years back I bought a cheap no name enclosure to house a 2.5 drive removed from a macbook in perfect working condition. It was disastrous. The crappy circuitry in the case fried the drive. A classic case of dropping dollars while picking up pennies.So when I upgraded from a 250gb ssd to a 1tb one and needed to use an external case ro transfer my data, I decided to go with a name brand. Thankfully Sabrent delivered a nice trustworthy case and the transfer of data was smooth and easy.

I like that these are aluminum which helps dissipate the heat of the drive. Since the SSD inside is used for backups the extra durability adds peace of mind. The fit and build quality is excellent.However, be careful with the tiny screws that come in the bag with the screw driver. They are black to match the case, but easily lost in carpet if dropped. If you have a better small screwdriver use it instead of the included one.Only complaint I have is the bar code sticker they attach to the otherwise beautiful brushed aluminum. It has permanent adhesive and a pain to remove. Peel carefully with razer blade and use isopropyl alcohol to remove the residue.Also certain SSDs have a anti-tamper seal, a sticker around the edger of the drive. These may have to be removed before putting into case. The fit is very tight and precise to prevent rattling of the drive inside - a good design thing.

This thing is easy to install like 5 minutes. Works effortlessly. No drivers needed. The only con but it's not its actually a pod is the included cable is of good quality thick cable and it doesn't bend so easy and the drive is really lite. It's not a cheapo thin cable. It works with sad and mechanical drives too

It was so simple to plug in a new SSD drive into case, connect the USB cable to my PC and use my favorite free cloning software to replace my old 5400 RMP hard drive with the 1 TB SSD drive to speed up my PC by 60%

I paired this enclosure with a Crucial SDD to use as a portable library for Serato. Nice rugged enclosure that I don't have to worry about falling apart in a bag etc.I also own the tool free version of this. Get that one if you plan on swapping out drives frequently.If you do not plan on swapping out drives, get this aluminum version it's much more rugged.

Works well and does what it's supposed to!

Extremely satisfied with this enclosure. I am a computer professional of 30+ years and have seen lot of things come and go. This one is a keeper. I love the durability of the aluminum case. The ends attached with small screws rather than little plastic clips that break easily on the other enclosures I have. I have several drives from various laptops, so these are great for extending the life of those drives. I am not bashful on reviews, and don't rate many things a 5, but I cannot think of anything that would make this any better.

This is my third case, they are inexpensive, well built and hold up well. I would highly recommend.
