USB 3.2 Rugged Waterproof SSD Enclosure [IP67]

Build quality like all Sabrent is great. The main reason I retuned it was because it didn’t consistently connect at full speed to my laptop. For some reason when connect either via usb c to c or usb c to a, it would often speed test at 40 MB/s vs the 1000+ it normally should. Wasn’t overly fond of the little rubber seals around the screw holes on the bottom. The caddy is designed to put the drive in and leave it in. With this design you wouldn’t want to swap them out very often.

Bought this for use when out in the field and conditions may not be the best. The build quality seems very good and the weather sealing seems solid with no issues so far. Time will tell how well it holds up over time.

I plugged this thing about 5x until I decided, maybe I should try a different USB-C cable. Voila, first time it worked. That cruddy part is I bought this for my mother as she's travelling and it was supposed to be an easy plug and play and now I have to go source a USB-C cable and I don't trust the other USB-C to USB-C OTG one so I am going to have to source two cables. Pretty disappointing.. I just hope that actual NVME controller will last.

This product is great. Easy to install the M.2 and a very solid device. I use it to store games (CoD) which I play directly off the device and it doesn't miss a beat.

Solid construction, even has a thermal pad for the SSD. It feels solid and rugged as advertised, and fast as well. 800s write and 900s read on USB 3.1 bus.

It is also extremely fast over USB Type C connections with transfer speeds on a Sabrent 2TB of over 650MB/s for most large file transfers.

I ordered this product at the same time I ordered the Sabrent Rocket Q 8TB NVMe M.2 SSD. I have had issues with both products and my Dell Precision 7540 mobile workstation. I previously upgraded two of the three 512GB SSDs that came with the 7540 to Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB SSDs and that upgrade was seamless in that I cloned the 512GB drives to an external drive, swapped the 512GB SSDs for the 2TB EVO Plus, cloned the data (including the system drive) back, rebooted and everything worked perfectly. However when I upgraded the third 512GB SSD to the Sabrent 8TB, nothing worked, the workstation went into an infinite reboot loop, and nothing seemed to work. After doing a lot of Google searches, it was recommended that I change a BIOS setting (change from RAID to AHCI) which I did. After that and several repair/reboot cycles, I was finally able to boot the machine but things were unstable with lockups and reboots over the next two days. After more repair/reboot cycles, the machine finally seems stable.I then put one of the replaced 512GB SSDs into this Sabrent case and again I am faced with it not working. The drive is recognized but I can't perform any operations on it. Windows says it needs to be formatted which it shouldn't need as it was a data drive in the same system. Ok, I try to format it and it errors saying it can't format the drive. I've tried it on two different computers with the same result. But this time I don't need the drive so I'm not going to waste time on it.As a side note, when I contacted Sabrent support, they seemed to be clueless and offered no help at all.Having previously been in the computer electronics manufacturing business, I think it is strange that Sabrent wouldn't have tested with Dell computers and ensured it worked with an easy upgrade. After all, the Dell Precision workstation market seems an obvious target for the 8TB SSD. What other market is going to pay the ~$1500 price for an 8TB SSD...So overall, I would not recommend purchase of this product until and unless Sabrent works with Dell to resolve the compatibility issues.

Performance is good -- I have transferred many GB of files to and from the drive with no issues and speed is roughly as expected. It doesn't get very hot, which was a concern. I'm not sure the rubber boot provides any real value, but makes the device bulkier.

This is my second Sabrent enclosure with the first one being the non-rugged version. I rarely give 5 stars but both my first drive and this one have been excellent. Both drives infuse have 1tb M.2 drives in them that were pulled out of my machines when upgrading to larger drives. The case is solid and screws down snug. The only thing rugged is the rubber bumper around it. I expect it will perform just as well as my other one does.
