This hub offers only two USB 3.0 ports and one HDMI port. If this limited number of ports is what you’re looking for, then this might work great for you. But I have found other hubs, with a wider variety of ports, in the same price range. I will say that I have a few Sabrent products, and haven’t had any issues with any of them.
My two newest computers have USB-C ports, but most of my peripherals are USB-B. This will turn the unused port into two useful ports, and I always seem to need more. Just don't let the weight just hang from the port, because it's not good for the port. Other than that, you're good to go.
I have a computer that does not have an HDMI port but does have a USB Type C port. I wanted to be able to hook up our HDTV to my computer and was unable to find connectors that would work. This Sabrent item worked really good and allowed me to make the connection necessary for our needs. I only didn't rate it 5 stars because the cord was very loose and I needed to reinforce it.
We got my son a MacBook Pro with touchpad for high school graduation. It has the new USB Type-C charger and ports. This adapter is a MUST for this laptop. Almost nothing (chargers, etc) have moved to USB Type-C, so you would be stuck without this adapter. He's really going to be lost if he loses it. Which I could totally see happening.
I've used this item both on a Surface Note 4 and a Lenovo Yoga. In both cases it worked flawlessly with no extra set up, I just plugged it in and everything started working. It's very compact and easy to just leave in your case or even attached to the computer. Invaluable little add-on.
WOrks as intended, nice little deviceHave not had any issues with it
About the size of a large stick of gum, the bottom is not grippy material. It's super light and the cable is darker than pictured. Made in China. Cable gauge is pretty thick so quite stiff and length is about 6 inches
I ordered this product not understanding what it was actually for. I thought it was a battery backup portable charging device for a variety of products. Actually, it is made for plugging into products that have an Outlet and then other devices can be utilized. The only product I own that offer and Output socket in "C" Type is my cell phone which is an Android. Therefore, this product is useless to me. It will not function.
This is a solidly-built dongle, and has the right mix of ports for me. I've used it for a 34" ultra wide 4k monitor from a MacBook Pro while running a wireless keyboard and mouse (non-Apple via the USB ports), and it works flawlessly.I would have loved to see one more USB 3.0 port, but I've been able to get by with the 2 it has; an SD card slot would have also been nice. There is a limitation on the power support (60W), so I wouldn't necessarily go with this as a docking station replacement, but as a travel dongle, it rocks.
I travel a lot with my Macbook Pro, and with Apple's decision to go to USB-C, I'm finding myself in need of adapters for my various cables that I need throughout a trip. I was able to charge my iPhone and have a USB thumb drive attached at the same time, and occasionally play video over HDMI. The charging is limited to 60W, so if you have the 15" Macbook Pro the power won't be sufficient.Overall, this is a good travel hub, and nothing more. For those who are looking for a docking station sort of solution, you'd probably want something more robust with more USB ports like the Sanho Hyperdrive but at a lot higher price.
This works great. I wish it would clearly state that it can charge a phone from the USB port- that wasn't explicitly clear to me.Decent size, great for travel, lets me use my macbook pro with projectors via hdmi cable, and connect other stuff via USB. Just what I needed.
Probably the most convenient adapter I have to use with my high end new laptop. I connected it to a 1080P monitor with the HDMI, slot, and I still have room to connect USB 3.0 devices like external storage devices. Plus since there's a couple, I can connect a DVD/CD 3.0 USB burner/player to my laptop which doesn't have one. While games and other things now use high speed internet to load and update, there are still a few things that can use a DVD for storage or program installations. The device does not require special drivers so it should work with the appropriate PC or Apple. It does with the PC, but my Apple computers are too old to test this with, none of them have a USB type C port.Seems to be made of a high quality standard, monitor support up to 4K, backward compatible, adds additional I/O ports to your computer, and the price seems fair for what this is. I like it, and will use this one frequently. I've going to stage it by my gamer monitor, with a standby 3.0 DVD player, and a 3.0 Storage drive for downloads. Sort of a set-up station where I come to the desk and plug a USB C connector into my Laptop, and everything's ready to go like a mini docking station. Recommended.
Got one of these for my new Mac and it works great. I like that I can plug other older types into it to keep things simple and can finally do away with the adapter I had to buy from Apple. It operates regularly and doesn't slow down anything, plus has a large storage capacity.
It's a small, light dongle for attaching an HDMI monitor and two USB 3.0 devices to a USB-C notebook, e.g. a 2017+ MacBook Pro.The quality is there, as is the feature set. There are many, many dongles on the market, all with pluses and minuses. You can get exactly the combination of ports (USB 3.0, HDMI) and card slots (SD, micro-SD) you want. This one has one more USB 3.0 slot than Apple's , but is limited to 60W of power – not quite the max supported by the 15" MacBook Pro notebooks. For most this will be a good tradeoff. It's a great size for travel.I have verified all the ports, and am using the HDMI on a 4K/30Hz monitor without issues. It's quite stable, and the build quality is excellent. This is something you can easily toss into your backpack and not be without connections in any remote setting. There's an internal blue LED that's always on. Not particularly offensive, but not particularly useful either.
As a Macbook Pro Touchscreen user a dongle is just about essential, unfortunately, though it's a limitation I've learned to live with. This one is small, light and has a bit of a texture to it, making it easy to grab out of a bag, and harder to slide off a desk top. Most important, it DOES pass power, and includes two USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI output, as well as the USB-C input and a built-in USB-C cable to connect to the MacBook. That's one more USB port than Apple's standard dongle, but still small enough to travel with. Good deal.
