Using with a laptop (Win 10 Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen2 AMD). Just plug and play on the first time without reading user guide. Using 3 external monitor(2x4K + 1HD) + laptop monitor 4K (total 4) using USB to VGA adapter for HD monitor.Pro:1. Come with its own power adapter and cables (but you will need more). I can place my laptop power adapter at my work. Some cheap dock needs laptop power adapter for its power.2. Have power switch on the adapter. This is actually useful since some devices forgot that it was plugged in so need a bit of switch on/off to reconnect with laptop. (not a docking/laptop problem. Device problem).3. USB-3 allow to use USB to VGA(or another HDMI) to use additional HD monitor.4. One high power USB for charging which also transfer data.5. USB-C, ethernet and audio in/out for better speaker.6. Kensington lock. Not using but good for public/work environment.Con.The audio out plug came slightly damaged but seem more like cosmetic. It works fine. (Photo)Thought: I am really impressed with this company (Sabrent) product with just this one.
Needed to trasnefr several HD's of data to new laptop. My older USB 2 SATA adapter said it would take 17+ hrs, so I purchased this USB 3 station (same manufacturer) and it took less than 4hrs. Easy setup. Good quality build. Only issue was that every so often, in the middle of huge data transfers, the laptop would lose connection. The docking statuion was plugged diurectly into laptop, so not sure why this was happening. Not a huge deal, I just restarted the station and began where it left off.
Having two HDs show up as individual drives in Windows was nice, and I am able to move files back and forth between them and my PC HD. When I tried to offline clone two identical 2TB drives, the cloning process took over 24 hours. Keep in mind that as a clone, you can't then have both HDs connected to the same PC at the same time as Windows will not load the target drive as it is "conflicted" with the first. The offline cloning process is supposed to run at 60MB/s but still took over 24 hours. Frankly it would have been faster to just copy the one hard drive to the other via a PC. Don't use this item for fast offline cloning, but otherwise it is pretty nice.
If you have empty HDDs that could be used as storage, this device is useful. Backups can be shared between workstations. Device runs as advertised. Treat it gently.
I thought I could just plug the drives in,, but not so.....had to fiddle with them,, and wiped out data. Had to use a third drive to save data
