This is the first time I've strayed from Samsung SSD's - and yes, it does beat Samsung... Not only in speed, but in price. Finally!
I needed the space for my console. After all, there’s Horizon II and GOW Ragnarok to look forward to. So yeah, I highly recommend getting an SSD of this size.
Looking over the other reviews I shouldn't be so surprised. Day of my big build I was shocked when I opened the box to find nothing inside, looks like this happens not so infrequently! Package came sealed from Amazon, plastic wrap with factory stickers, nice quality metal box, even the insert cover where the M.2 would go was there.Notably there is no Serial number sticker on the outside or inside carton, likely a way for the factory to keep track of this, conveniently there was a sticker on the outside plastic wrap covering this up. Some in the factory has a decent side job selling these, Amazon luckily provided me a full refund. Decided to go to MicroCenter and purchase their store brand for the same discounted price with a better warranty and less chance of being taken for a ride. Sabrent has some thieves in their factory.
Muy buen producto
I say it's "worth it" because this enclosure does cost slightly more than your typical USB 3.1 Gen 2 enclosures. This is because I've yet to find a USB enclosure with my NVMe storage that runs as fast as it's advertised. All bottlenecks aside, having the Thunderbolt interface is simply going to be the fastest for most Apple device users. As far as using this enclosure and installing the NVMe in it, it's very easy. No tools required. I actually REALLY like the little lift + twist handle that opens the enclosure. It's very clever.Incase you are curious what I use this for? I use a 1TB NVMe in this enclosure for dedicated video editing on Final Cut Pro. This allows the software to access the media at an insane speed and the render speeds are also very fast. I used to use 7200rpm spin drives, but they just couldn't keep up with today's 4K bit rates for editing on the fly.
